Wife Jan is on the Noom program and is still giving me lists of recipe names from her app. Many of these recipes are directly from Prevention, but I could not find this one on-line so I decided to wing it. Starting with the idea of a grilled seafood soup—the recipe name my wife gave me—I thought about what would go into it.

Karl’s Fish Stir-Fry

Wife Jan is just getting over the flu and she wanted “real” food, but was concerned about moving too fast off of a bland diet. Stir-fries are infinitely variable—What do you have? What do you need? What blend of sauces would go with these decisions. Today’s answers were cod, Shanghai bok choy, napa cabbage, and shiitake mushrooms, and a few green onion tops—flavorful, but easy to digest. For the sauce, I decided on a base of oyster sauce with soy sauce, and a bit of ginger —avoiding my usual addition of chili garlic sauce.

Karl’s Goan Fish Curry

If no one has given me a challenge for a Sunday meal, I am left to find one for myself. I keep track of everyone who has “liked” one of my dishes and—when I have time—I run through their sites looking for inspiration and ideas. One such site is Linda Creation, which introduced me to Goan cuisine.
