It has been a long time since I have cooked anything en papillote. To cook something en papillote means that you are cooking it in a parchment packet—although these days it is more common to use aluminum foil. As I was looking for dinner ideas, I came across several recipes like this, but none that matched what I wanted, so I just took out on my own.

I have some bananas on the counter that are too ripe for just eating, time for banana muffins. I usually put dried apricots into my banana muffins, but today, I had a fresh peach sitting on the counter getting old. I peeled it, chopped it into small bits and added it to the mix.

I am doing Morocco this week and Miriam said she had seen a recipe for Moroccan corn and stone fruit salad. She really liked my last corn salad and wanted something similar. I was not able to find the recipe she had read, so I did what seemed right to me.

Last weekend Eilene’s friends invaded the house for Fanime. This meant peaceful days, but a hungry horde descending upon the house at 10 PM. Eilene asked for fresh crackers as a snack when they arrived. While I was at the farmer’s market I saw some peaches. Peach jam and crackers seemed like just the thing for starving teenagers.

I saw some peaches and strawberries in the market today and I decided to make a fruit crisp. This is a dish from my childhood with many fond memories. This dish may also be called a crumble, because you crumble the topping over the fruit.

Jan saw a bunch of fruit at the farmer’s market and thought, “What goes with lamb skewers? Fruit skewers!” Some of the fruit was not quite ripe and I suggested that since I would already have the grill going we could throw them on. Jan thought this was a good idea.
