My potato plant died this week, so I harvested the potatoes. This was actually a sport from the year before, but if it really wanted to grow who am I not to water it? I ended up with five small potatoes. These were not enough to make a dish by themselves, so I would have to add them to something.

Karl’s Italian Sausage Lasagna
Son-in-law, Chris, is leaving on another trip, so the kids are not coming over for Sunday dinner. Jan requested something forbidden by his ketogenic diet, lasagna. Since this is also our anniversary week (31st) I agreed to make it for her. I also made her favorite salad, carrot, to go with it.

Karl’s Calabrese and Cabbage Soup
My nephew, Braden, is staying at Myr’s place and is leaving today. For one last meal together we decided to have a Sunday lunch at her place before they ran him to the airport. Before Miriam and Chris went to his mother’s for Christmas, they gave us some Calabrese sausages. I thought it would be a good idea to uses these for this meal.

Last Sunday we visited out friends in Fresno, Pat and Jim, who own a farm. With a large kitchen garden, it is risky to stop by their house or have them visit you. Last year, Pat showed up on our doorstep with a twenty pound bag of tomatoes. This year we got pepper bombed and a butternut squash literally the size of a baby. What am I going to do with a big bag of mixed peppers?
